Don't Sleep On Podcasts

Music is an essential part of my daily routine. I have playlists for every month and additional ones for specific moods, weather, occasions, really the list goes on. The first thing I do when I get in my car (after I buckle up of course, mom), is queue a few songs for my car ride. It's almost comical how the songs I listen to can impact my levels of productivity, my mood, and the decisions I make as I go through my day. However, recently, I've been cheating on my love for my hours worth of playlists with podcasts. I know. I'm admitting it.

Ah, that feels good to get off my chest.

A podcast, if you are unfamiliar, are essentially hour long episodes of either someone talking by themselves, with a co - host or interviewing someone who is an expert of their field. They come in all varieties, I mean literally anything. Crime, comedy, fitness, self help, news, educational, the list goes on. And for a while, I neglected to even acknowledge that this form of entertainment even existed. But now they have become the therapy that is simply included with my Spotify membership.

Now when I get in the car, its usually a 50/50 if I will be listening to a podcast or music. But when I go for runs, get ready in the morning, clean my room (yes mom, I do clean), or really anything else, I find myself pressing play on a podcast. It makes the time pass by quickly and I thoroughly enjoy choosing episodes that feel relevant to where my head is at in that moment. So, incase you like the idea of this but don't know where to begin, I'm gonna make a short list of some top notch podcasts to listen to...right now.

First, let me say, I tend to listen to advice, lifestyle, health, kind of girl talk, podcasts, so if those topics don't interest you, I won't be offended if you click out and move on with your day. Okay?

1. Anything Goes with Emma Chamberlain

For any fans of Emma Chamberlain, this is a good listen. She rebranded her podcast recently and it's a 10/10. She talks about a lot of different topics and is much more candid then she is in her YouTube videos. I gained a lot of respect for her with this podcast, she genuinely seems like someone I would love to be friends with. She really is a huge trendsetter of our generation.

2. What We Said by Jaci Marie and Chelsey Jade

This is a new find of mine through a small not super famous influencer named Jaci Marie. Her and her best friend have this podcast and cover many lifestyle topics and it's a good and easy listen. I like playing this in the back of what I am doing because it feels like a conversation with a few girlfriends. They also have backgrounds in nutrition so bring health into the conversation sometimes!

3. Call Her Daddy

I mean, this needs no explanation. Single father Alex Cooper is always on her game. But for the record if you don't know what this is at all then you probably shouldn't listen. I'm talking to anyone over the age of 30.

4. Gals on the Go

This was the first podcast I ever really loved to listen to. Danielle Carolan and Brooke Miccio are the hosts and some YouTubers I have watched for years. They are relatable, interesting to listen to and it feels like a genuine conversation. They cover a wide variety of topics based around their lives, Brooke being newly NYC based and Danielle being a senior at UGA. I also like that they offer some different outlooks on topics and have different styles/vibes sometimes. Occasionally they do solo episodes/bring guests on.

5. VIEWS with David Dobrik and Jason Nash

There isn't much to say. Who wouldn't wanna listen to the charming and hilarious David Dobrik with his 40 something year old best friend comedian by his side? Since David has left us without vlog's when we needed him most, at least we have his podcast, for an uninterrupted 40ish minutes of the man, the myth, the legend.

So, for now, thats all I got. But I have a feeling podcasts are here to stay and are going to be the next big thing. So, go for a drive, catch yourself up, and get on the podcast wave, if you haven't already.
